Tour Plan

Early morning drive from Semera to the Danakil Depression. Visit the alien landscapes of Dallol, known for its neon-colored sulfur formations, acidic pools, and salt canyons. Explore Lake Assale, one of the lowest points in Africa, and observe traditional Afar salt mining.
Overnight at Hamed Ela (basic camp).

After breakfast, drive across the salt desert toward Erta Ale, Ethiopia’s most active volcano. Trek to the crater in the late afternoon to witness the dramatic lava lake glowing after sunset. This is one of the very few permanent lava lakes in the world.

Early morning descent from Erta Ale. Drive back through the Afar lowlands, passing volcanic landscapes and desert plains. Arrive in Semera in the afternoon, marking the end of the expedition.
